Co-signer obligations & responsibilities
Please read this carefully before co-signing a bail bond with Lane's Bail Bonding LLC. When you co-sign, you become an indemnitor on the bond — a legally and financially binding role.
Co-signing is not a favor with no risk. If the defendant fails to appear, you can be held responsible for the full amount of the bond. If you have questions, call us at (864) 704-7118 before you sign.
1.You are financially responsible for the full bond
By co-signing (also called indemnifying), you guarantee the entire face amount of the bond to Lane's Bail Bonding LLC. If the defendant fails to appear in court and the bond is forfeited, you may be responsible for the full bond amount plus any recovery costs, court costs, and attorney's fees.
2.The premium is fully earned and non-refundable
The premium (and any fees) you pay is the cost of the bonding service. It is fully earned once the defendant is released and is not refundable, even if the case is dismissed, dropped, or the defendant is re-arrested.
3.You must keep us informed
You are required to notify us immediately of any change to the defendant's address, phone number, employment, or if you believe the defendant intends to leave the jurisdiction or miss a court date.
4.You are responsible for the defendant's court appearances
You agree to make every reasonable effort to ensure the defendant appears at every scheduled court date until the case is fully disposed of and the bond is exonerated.
5.Check-in and monitoring conditions
The defendant may be required to check in through this site on a set schedule, including sharing their location at the time of check-in. Missed check-ins may result in the bond being surrendered.
6.Collateral
If collateral was pledged, it is held until the bond is exonerated and all amounts owed are paid in full. Collateral may be used to satisfy a forfeiture or any unpaid balance.
7.Payment plans
If you were approved for a payment plan, you agree to make each installment on time. Missed payments may result in the bond being surrendered and the defendant returned to custody.
8.Right to surrender the bond
You may request that we surrender the defendant back to custody at any time. Doing so does not entitle you to a refund of the premium, and you remain responsible for any costs incurred.
